Mar232019: Punch Needle

“if you don’t mind me asking, do you think i could get you to talk about punch needle and how to get into it and stuff? it looks very fun and your stuff is so cute!!”

While we’re here I should show yall my latest two punchneedle doodles. A llama-sheep thing and an island.

Punchneedle is like embroidery, but you mainly use yarn (you can use embroidery thread too), with the major difference being that, instead of inserting a needle from one side and having to push the needle back out the other side, you use a special pen to stab the cloth repeatedly.

I got into it via the #punchneedle or #needlepunch tag on instagram. They have lots of videos and pictures so you can see if it’s your thing or not.

Since punchneedle is a relatively new hobby (the pen is not widely available), you may have to get the supplies online. I got mine through a starter’s kit by Mego Workshop on Etsy. You may have to consider kits from US or EU stores if you’re local there, since Mego is Australian.

This blog is pretty comprehensive! https://giverslog.com/how-to-punch-needle/
